Philipp Zadig, born November 22, 1848 in Altona, Germany, died in 1927, was a Swedish manufacturer and wholesaler, operating in Malmö. He was the father of company director Viggo Zadig and artist William Zadig, as well as grandfather of actor Fylgia Zadig and artist Jacques Zadig. Zadig came to Malmö in 1863 with the parents manufacturer Meyr Zadig and Fredrika Hauer. He was active in the companies Hansen and Sewan in Malmö 1863-1865. Then he went over to the factory established for the sake of soap, perfumes etc., established by the father, and entered a few years later as a partner under the company name M. Zadig. Philipp Zadig was the leader of the Mosaic Assembly in Malmö from 1876 to 1883 and from 1900. He was a member of the Board of Malmö Poverty Board of 1902, who served for many years in the Taxation Committee. He conducted study trips to Paris 1900 and the United States in 1909. He was a member of the central government of Föreningen Sveriges soap manufacturers and chairman of the local department in Malmö. He was married to Emma Heckscher (born 1858) from 1878, daughter of gross dealer Lorenz Heckscher and Adelheid Koppel.
